Sometimes there are opportunities to help clients with various issues, concerns, and design that are outside the scope of a contract. These are considered Additional Services. For example, if an architect has designed a project after the owner has opted to not hire a Geo-technical Engineer to study the soils on their site prior to digging a foundation, then an abandoned septic field is found, then Additional Services might be asked of the architect to help coordinate a team of professionals to mitigate the hazard. Or, During the design of a project, a client decides that they might like to look into using a wind or solar powered source and asks the architect to help research a system to best fit their use.
